WELCOME TO THE VENN DIAGRAM DEMONSTRATION Venn Diagrams are used to abstract data in collections of numbers known as Sets. Real Sets contain a positive quantity of unique numbers (with the exception of the Empty Set which has identically zero entries). This demo allows you to view sets and set operations on real integer sets which have been randomly generated (2 sets are generated upon demo startup). MENU OPTIONS ------------ File Menu: Select "Quit" to close the Venn diagram demonstration. Options Menu: Select a set from the "View Set Data" sub-menu to view the set's data. You can use this option to verify the results of the set calculator. About Menu: Select "About Venn Demo" to view this help text. USING THE SET CALCULATOR ------------------------ The Set Calculator allows you to perform three classical set operations on two sets at a time: Intersection, Subtraction, and Union. Intersection is the collection of all numbers shared commonly by any two sets. Union is the combination of all of the numbers in the two sets with replicate numbers excluded. Subtraction of one set from a second set yields the elements of the second set minus the intersection of the first and second sets. Set Buttons (A, B, C, etc.) These buttons correspond to the currently available sets. When you perform a set calculation, a new set containing the result of the calculation will become available. Set Operation Buttons These buttons are labeled with the standard symbols for the operations Intersection, Union and Subtraction. Operations are performed in the following order: [Set] [Operation] [Set] [Equals] Clearing Mistakes or Errors Click the button with the left-pointing arrow to remove the most recently entered set or operator. Click the "CE" button to clear the entire display. Set Droplist You can choose which set to display in the draw area by selecting an option from the droplist labeled "Currently Viewing:".
